The Cape Wrath Ultra®
The Race That Unlocks Scotland’s Wildest Frontier
400km | 8 days
An adventure of a lifetime
Next Event: 17th – 24th May 2026
The 400km route is completed over 8 days, and it offers a compelling ultra running challenge. Participants will have none of the complex logistical worries that hikers traditionally encounter when embarking on the Cape Wrath Trail or other long-distance footpaths, such as the Pennine Way.
The Cape Wrath Ultra race follows a route based on the Cape Wrath hiking Trail, often described as the hardest long distance backpacking trail in the UK. Usually, it takes hikers at least 20 days to complete. But under the expert guidance of Ourea Events, participants can traverse the full stretch in just eight days, with logistical support, camps, and safety measures that make the impossible achievable.
THE ROUTE
Participants are welcome to walk large sections of the route, however, the Cape Wrath Ultra is ultimately an ultra running race; on the longest days participants will not be able to exclusively walk, in order to complete the route within the cut-offs.
“The Cape Wrath Ultra grants runners access to an incredible wilderness, rugged terrain, and a sense of solitude unrivalled anywhere else in the UK,”
