1. It’s a chance to go on a real journey

The Cape Wrath Ultra is a long way – it takes you all the way from Fort William to the famous Cape Wrath Lighthouse. On the way, you will venture through some awe-inspiring landscapes, stopping each night in an unforgettable location, whether that’s in the shadow of the Glenfinnan Viaduct or by Loch Assynt.

Whether you are completing the Cape Wrath Ultra® or the Cape Wrath Explorer, this is a real journey to be savoured.

 2. It’s a challenge!

Eight days of running over the tricky Highland terrain while battling all the elements the Scottish weather has to throw at you. There’s no doubt about it – the Cape Wrath Ultra® is difficult!

But the challenge is what makes the Cape Wrath Ultra so special – after all, how many people can say they’ve conquered a challenge of this calibre?

 3. Explore the remote coastline

Secluded sea lochs, golden sandy beaches and the wild, rugged unspoilt beauty of the West Coast of Scotland – these are the views that await those brave enough to set out on the journey towards the Cape Wrath Lighthouse.

One highlight is the chance to run across the most beautiful beach in the UK, the remote Sandwood Bay – it’s certainly worth making it to day 8 for this alone!

 4. There’s no better way to experience Scotland

Scotland is a magical country with a rich history. However, it’s also incredibly vast, with the Highlands stretching for miles and miles. You could take months to explore it. Alternatively, you could compress the best sights into eight days of wonderful trail running for one awesome adventure!

The landscapes are amazing – the energy and power of this wild place is unforgettable. Remote, rough, but also while you are running, the terrain is relentless and unforgiving.

5. The community is incredible

The camaraderie that develops amongst the runners is amazing. Runners spend all day out on course together, and in the evenings they can swap adventure stories in the overnight camps. Many Cape Wrath Ultra participants will form friendships for life as they support each other through this epic challenge.

There is also an incredible Event Team who are there to support runners every step of the way. These people sacrifice their time to make sure runners have the most magical experience. It is the community that has formed around the Cape Wrath Ultra that makes it so special!
