'Event postponed to August' - Covid-19 update
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the 2021 Cape Wrath Ultra® – due to take place on 23rd-30th May – has been postponed to 1st-8th August 2021.
Cape Wrath Ultra® and Covid-19
“Everyone at Ourea Events is working very hard to ensure that, if restrictions allow, we will be ready to deliver our events later this year. Any other approach simply guarantees failure. If we sat on our hands now waiting until the government announced that events could proceed again, then there would be no chance of us being ready when restrictions are relaxed, because events like Cape Wrath Ultra® are complex logistical challenges that take about 12-months to organise.”
Participants attending from overseas and Covid-19
The coronavirus outbreak remains a very fluid and rapidly changing situation, and we will continue to follow advice from the UK Government, especially Health Protection Scotland and Public Health England. However, we are all aware that the guidance changes on an almost daily basis and therefore planning for what may or may not be allowed in 2021 is very challenging.
Looking ahead to the 2022 event
With the 2021 Cape Wrath Ultra sold out and the waiting list closed, it is now time to look ahead to the 2022 event! Year on year, this iconic, bucket list race continues to be extremely popular for ultra runners looking for a memorable and exciting journey through the stunning Scottish Highlands.

Covid-19 August 2020 update
Dear runners,
Like us we are sure that you are all acutely aware of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it may influence events like the 2021 edition of the Cape Wrath Ultra®. At this stage (still nine months before the 2021 edition) we’d like to reassure you that managing the COVID-19 risk to everyone involved in the event is top of our priority list.
Cape Wrath Ultra® 2021 - event format and rule changes/clarifications
Observant participants now entering the 2021 edition of the Cape Wrath Ultra® will have spotted some subtle but important changes to the format and rules of the event. Ordinarily this would have passed without comment, as we continually update and fine tune each event. However, because almost 300 participants have transferred their entry from 2020 to the 2021 edition, we wanted to make these changes crystal clear.
Response to Covid-19 - 2020 event cancelled
Dear Fellow Runners,
Like you, we had hoped that this action would not be necessary, but in line with government advice to “stop non-essential contact with others and non-essential travel, start working from home and avoid social venues”, we feel we have no choice but to cancel the Cape Wrath Ultra® that was due to be held 24th-31st May 2020.
2021 entries open in May, 2020 race sold out
High anticipation, limited number of places
The countdown is underway until entries open for the 2021 Cape Wrath Ultra. The first three editions of this iconic, bucket list race sold out within weeks. Don’t miss out! - Join us for this once in a lifetime journey through the stunning Scottish Highlands.
Cape Wrath Ultra® goes annual
