Catering

What’s included?

  • All overnight camp food and drinks are provided (i.e. breakfast, afternoon snacks, and evening meals)

  • A welcome meal on the evening before the race start

  • A celebratory finishers meal on the evening of the final day

What’s not included?

  • Food to take away from the overnight camps. Participants must bring plenty of snacks to keep them going between overnight camps i.e. while out on the course (water can be taken from the overnight camps).

  • Hot water from the kitchen for having a wash!

  • Milk for protein / recovery shakes - milk will only be available for hot drinks and cereal

The Cape Wrath Ultra® is organised by runners so we understand just how hungry participants will be. The menu offers a varied breakfast, fresh homemade soups for your afternoon snack, themed menus for each evening meal plus a delicious variety of desserts and cakes each day. All the meals are high in calories and nutritionally complete to provide the right balance of micro and macro nutrients for participants undertaking a very tough physical challenge.

All meals at the overnight camps are based on a meat and fish FREE menu with the option of adding diary, cheese and eggs to make them vegetarian.

Why a meat and fish free menu? Read our sustainability policy here.

Food will be served in a dedicated catering tent by the catering team. There will be plenty of space to enjoy meals in the communal marquee along with fellow runners, which makes for a great opportunity to share stories and compare notes on the day.

Tip

Participants will need to provide their own plate, bowl, mug and cutlery, and wash these up themselves (we will ensure that a good supply of warm and clean washing up water is provided).

05:30 – 08:30 Breakfast (Days 2-8*)

Breakfast will be available from approximately 1.5 hours before the first start time.

Cold options - Sweet waffles (vegan option), English muffins, breakfast rolls or bread (brown and white) accompanied with a selection of breakfast jams, marmalade or marmite. We also have Ourea’s mega muesli or cornflakes served with organic dairy milk, soya milk or oat milk, yoghurt and a choice of teas or coffee. There will also of course be porridge to help keep you fuelled.

Hot Options - Hash browns, scrambled egg, scrambled tofu, sausages and baked beans - all served with sliced bread (brown or white) and English Muffins.

From first finishers – 22:00 Afternoon snacks (Days 1-8)

This food will be available as participants finish and will include fresh homemade soup (a different recipe each day but always packed full of protein), different cakes each day and plenty of chips! Drinks will include tea, coffee, water and an isotonic mix.

Tip

The purpose of the 'afternoon snacks' is so that finishing participants can go straight to the catering tent and get some quick snacks before sorting themselves out (dry clothes, clean socks etc) and returning later for their main evening meal.
